In essence, I teach beeswax candle making as a heart preparation for the soul’s relationship with the one who has died.
Grieving and the soul
Grieving hurts so much because things are not the same and never will be the same again. Grieving is an important part of the healing process. When you care for someone and they die, your world, your body, your soul and your spirit are all affected. So it makes sense then that wherever grief is felt, it also needs to be included in the healing.
Dealing with grief just on an emotional level can be way too unsubstantial to really help you come back into your life. Working with one’s emotions is essential but that alone is not enough for healing.
Grieving someone who has died affects your body, soul and spirit. This means that your healing needs to happen in all three areas – your physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.
What Most People Miss
Warmth for your whole being – body, soul and spirit – is what most people miss. Warmth brings an opening of the heart. a remembering of care and Love.
With warmth and openness, you can take a first step to where your grief evolves into a new heart connection with the one who has crossed the threshold. A new language, new presence, new mindfulness.
Lighting a beeswax candle, or even better – making your own – provides this warmth to your whole being. Heart meditations support our soul journey.
Rolling Beeswax Candles Can Transform Grieving
Universally and historically, honeybees are considered sacred. They are also symbols of resurrection and immortality. They are revered by all peoples throughout recorded history (and longer!). What makes them so special and helpful to those who grieve?
The bees and the beehive are about Love. Spikenard Farm Honey Bee Sanctuary in Virginia is a wonderful place dedicated to this understanding and practice. Imagine us humans creating what the bees produce for us? Honeybees produce astounding products. One of those products is beeswax. Pure beeswax can be made into beeswax sheets which can be rolled into spirit-imbued candles. Candles made from pure beeswax are truly connected with the living and dying cycles of bees. We can say that honeybees truly understand both love and death.
Touching beeswax, rolling it with your hands, breathing in its subtle fragrance, your whole being says: “Ahhhh!” And you can begin to relax – in ways that are almost imperceptible.
The surprise that rolling the wax with your hands enables one’s whole being – body, soul and spirit – to turn towards your loved one is…well …just that…a surprise.
It is not an out of body experience or emotionally draining. It is a subtle tender space within oneself. A softening inside yourself. A lessening of the mind’s insisting manner. It is an opening within…where linear time and space dissolve in the heart. And you are fully present…
And this is the moment where your grief can transform into a new heartfelt connection with your loved one. Turning towards and not away from your loved one is courage of the heart.
