Our Death Phobic Culture
I run into this all the time. As do you.
This recent address by Stephen Jenkinson is insightful and full of clarity of how completely death phobic our culture is. He describes so well, the fear-full mess we now are dealing with.
I have not heard anyone speak as he does. He offers the hope that to’ be a deep human being, to understand death as a ‘gift’ only comes by challenging our death phobia ‘.
It takes about one hour to listen to the complete talk which includes the host’s full introduction of Stephen’s background at this conference.
I have listened to it several times now, each time the wisdom gets richer and richer.
He explains in his own way, why it is SO hard to draw closer to those we love who are dying, AND why we must keep trying to do so. Hence I am glad to be able to offer it here on my blog.
What in his talk resounds within you?
