I am moved to tears this day.
Let me back up a wee bit.
Seven years ago I began a year-long therapeutics-conversation with a woman who died this past November 21st. Her name is Cheryl Sanders-Sardello.
Each time we spoke, I had recorded notes in long-hand. Then later I would transcribe/copy/fill in the blanks in another journal. I copied them because it helped me drink in what she and I said.
Fast forward to these past Christmas Holy Nights, I re-found this journal. And decided I would begin rereading it again beginning the initial day we had spoken, March 2nd.
When I say rereading it, I mean something not from a nostalgic or sentimental place.
Oh, not at all!
It’s a story remembering of two very large events. Two activities that are very current today, seven years later.
Seven years ago I was just beginning the writing of my website. Today, well, I am beginning the rewriting of it! You can check out my new draft of my Home Page here. I would so much like to hear how it lands for YOU. Click and share what comes up for you here: www.candlesconnectinghearts.com
Seven years ago I was also in the midst of becoming a beekeeper – later that spring in 2009 I would become the ‘keeper’ of four hives. And could I write to the Bees out of my heart? Well, wouldn’t you know, this past January I began doing just that! Seven years later, even though I no longer have any beehives. However my writings now have an intentional listening to the bees as an informing of my own new terrain now.
But that’s not what moved me to tears.
Here’s what did: I recognize our relationship is now turned inside out. Cheryl is on “the other side”! The sharing we did, all those potent topics have a resounding current ring today. A spiritual echoing conversing.
My tears resonate from a warmth inside. Akin to feeling the golden glow of a beeswax candle long after the flame is extinguished. Perhaps even a ‘coming of age’ something deep within me. The future coming into this precise moment. A landing of some sort.
A new terrain amid the familiar. Placing my attention intentionally. As if.
A touching of this place in soul, spirit, body that flames with the wholeness of the visible and invisible worlds connecting.
And so I welcomed my spontaneous tears. A marking, an outpouring, a waking up moment. We are connecting in the heart. And it changes everything.
About this first blog in 2016:
To be honest, this is not the first blog I have written in 2016. It is, however, the first one I have actually had the courage to send out!
I find I am on a mission of sorts. Clarity. To find out what beeswax and lighting candles and being present in Heart all have to do with each other! But it is not just a research! It’s a living it. Walking the talk. Somehow.
Oh, and finding and celebrating Community. There are folks everywhere doing this, like you, like others around you, others on the other side of the world. Simple to think, breath-taking to do! Taking up our own path in plain view of the world.
I want this blog to be a resource for initiating conversations on finding ourselves in new soul terrain, encouraging ways of relating consciously with who and what matters to us! Visible and invisible relationships. In the heart.
I am increasing the frequency of my blogs in 2016! Goodness. That’s a scary statement! However, it may not always be on the same day, Tuesdays for example. Some grace, just in case! And given today is actually Saturday and I started this on Wednesday! Trial period: three months. I will really want your feedback on frequency as well as topics, themes as we go.
Actually the intimidating part will likely be the technology learning curve. Ah, yes.
I want to explore with interviews, podcasts, poetry readings and sharing practices of being in heart. Share some of the folks, books, poems that inspire me. More on bees, stars, candles, poetry, stories and see where we go. I want to know what touches you.
And I really really want to find more ways to have conversations. If you have ideas already, let me know.
How is your 2016 going?
How is the courage of your heart? How challenging are relationships? How is taking care of you going? What/who are you celebrating and mourning? How are you finding calm in the mist of life swirling around? Is your inner strength increasing? Are you speaking from the heart when you really want and need to?
Myself? Well this blog pretty well says it all!
I am delightfully surprised what is transpiring these days.
Despite my blog silence these past two months, I have been busy offering local community based ‘mini-retreats’. I call them: Lighting Candles in Our Hearts for Loved Ones. A delicious combo of candle making infused by meditations in small groups in home settings (not always mine). Email me if you are interested in knowing more.
I also turned 63 in February. A very big deal. So ready to purge my filing cabinets and all the boxes of my life! Realizing I don’t have to keep ‘everything’! Anyone else been reading Marie Kondo’s latest book, “Spark Joy’?
